 C# is a multimodal programming language that is prototypical static, imperative, declarative, functional (object-oriented programming - OOP), generic, object-oriented (using classes), and subject to the principles of synthetic oriented programming.

This language was developed by Microsoft as part of its .NET development work and has been approved to standardize by Ecma (Ecma-334) and International Standards Organization (ISO/IEC 23270:2006). NC Sharp is a programming language designed to run on the Common Programming Language Infrastructure (CLI). C# is designed to be a simple, modern, general-purpose, object-oriented language. Anders Hillsberg led its development team.

The most recent version of the language is C# 8 and was released in 2019.
